A nurse attacked a woman in retaliation for assaults on her daughters, a court has heard.
Helen Hayburn was suspended from her role at Crieff Community Hospital following the incident but has since returned to work.
At Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday the 45-year-old admitted grabbing Sinead Boyd by the hair, hurling her to the ground and repeatedly punching her on the head and body at the Glendevon Hotel in Auchterarder on February 1.
In a letter to the court, Hayburn said the catalyst for her attacking Ms Boyd was an incident around 18 months previously when, she said, her daughter was attacked by members of Ms Boyd’s family.
She said that, following a court appearance by another member of the family, another daughter was also assaulted.
Hayburn wrote: “All I could think about was everything we had been put through and, despite following the rules, had got no justice. At that moment I was not thinking of the repercussions and I struck (her).”
Hayburn’s defence agent said she had gone to the hotel because she believed Ms Boyd and her family had been banned from the premises.
She said Hayburn, of Duchlage Road, Crieff, had no intention of repeating the incident.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher deferred sentence until November for Hayburn to be of good behaviour.
