Tonnes of soft fruit could come to a sticky end as the search begins for the world’s best jam maker.
The fourth annual World Jampionship competition was launched in Perthshire with an exciting announcement.
For the first time ever, a male category has been introduced to find the One Jammy Man who can make an award-winning preserve.
Children are also being invited to join the fun by making their own jam in an effort to teach traditional skills to the younger generation.
Meanwhile, the usual categories will return with first-time jam-makers, team entries, hospitality businesses and worldwide members of women’s institutes.
There will also be 12 classes of jam entries, ranging from popular varieties like strawberry and blackcurrant, to chocolate and savoury jams.
World Jampionship founder and organiser Tracey Baxter put out a call for entries during the launch event at Easter Essendy Farm, near Blairgowrie.
She said; “We want to find the ultimate Jambassadors and are calling on people all over the world to have a go.”
Celebrity chef Nick Nairn will present prizes to the winners at Dundee Flower and Food Festival in September.
Entries will be accepted until August 15 and can either be posted or dropped off at several points throughout the UK.
