Bravehearted runners from across Scotland and beyond will make their way to Perth to take part in the Kilt Run on Saturday August 9.

The 5km race takes place in and around the city’s North Inch park and is open to all ages, with the only stipulation being that entrants must be wearing kilts to run.

More than 1,300 valiant kilted runners celebrated breaking the official kilt race world record of 1,089 at the 2013 Perth Kilt Run and this year the organisers have the unofficial record of 1,757 set by runners in Perth, Ontario in their sights.

Nicholas Kydd of Eventfull, the new organiser of the event, said: “It’s great that we have the official record but I think this is the year when we can beat the unofficial numbers held by Canada and really show them how it’s done.

“Since this year is the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, our target number is a no-brainer our aim is 2014 kilt runners for 2014.

“We also plan to start the race at 13.14pm.”

This year, the race will be in partnership with Perth Highland Games and will benefit local and national charities.

Entrants can run in “clans” supporting participating charities, with £2 of the entry fee going to the runner’s chosen charity.
