The Courier’s Independence Referendum Roadshow was back in Perthshire on Tuesday, with the team visiting Luncarty, Stanley and Bankfoot.
They found residents only too happy to talk about their views, though many said they had been unimpressed with the Better Together and Yes campaigns.
One local man said: “I think it has been a poor campaign by both sides. Better Together has been limp and they need to be more enthusiastic in its promotion.
“That said, I simply don’t trust Alex Salmond or the Yes Campaign one little bit.
“There are no guarantees and no answers, just statements. It is all smoke and mirrors.”
Fellow Luncarty resident Mary Baxter, however, is determined to do her bit to provide voters with all the confidence they need to vote “Yes”.
She arrived at the roadshow bearing a folder full of information on the campaign and a whole host of other issues.
“I would crawl on my hands and knees to vote “Yes” in this referendum,” Mrs Baxter said.
“I have four children and six grandchildren and while this vote may make little difference to me it will help to reclaim the country for them.
“I hear people saying that they are already bored with the referendum, but I simply cannot understand that.
“It is the most important decision we will ever make.”
She said the experience of small countries such as Norway, Denmark and Finland showed just how Scotland could succeed and progress.
Eddie Clark, 78, also believes Scotland has what it takes to go it alone.
“We are one of the most educated countries in the world so why should we not govern ourselves?
“I believe we will become one of the richest countries in the world, per head of population.
“Some of the best and most successful countries in the world are among the smallest.”
