The Rev George L Edington, who served as a minister of Tayport Parish Church and later lived in Perth, has died.
Mr Edington was born in Leith in 1925.
On leaving school he trained as an electrician. During the Second World War he was called up into the RAF and worked abroad, servicing aircraft electrics.
After the war he went to Edinburgh University where he studied divinity.
He was an assistant minister in Greenside where he met his future wife, Eva Ritchie.
Mr Edington’s first parish was in Hamilton, then in Inverness as the first minister of Hilton Parish Church, which was an extension charge. A road in Inverness was later named after him.
In 1965, he moved to Tayport Parish Church where he remained until he retired.
Mr Edington joined the North East Fife Rotary Club and became its first president when it was established.
On retiring from the ministry he moved to Perth where he enjoyed art.
