A successor to the role of rector at Morrison’s Academy, Crieff, has been appointed.
Simon Pengelley is due to retire in August next year, with Gareth Warren to step into the post. Mr Warren graduated with an honours degree in pharmacology, followed by a post-graduate certificate in education.
He taught chemistry at a number of schools in the UK and gained an international educational perspective on a three-year posting as head of science at an independent school in Bermuda.
He has been a depute rector of the senior school at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, for five years, where he has undertaken a wide range of responsibilities.
Mr Warren has completed a Scottish qualification for headship at Edinburgh University as well as a variety of courses related to a leadership role.
A spokesman for the school’s board of governors said it is confident Mr Warren has an excellent understanding of the all-encompassing role of a modern-day rector in an independent school, adding he will maintain the unique spirit of Morrison’s Academy while, at the same time, leading it forward to the next phase of its development.
