A major investment in Perth’s electricity network gets under way next month.
Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission will spend £4.2 million replacing the overhead power lines that run between the Burghmuir substation in Perth and Gloagburn the first time significant work has been carried out on the line since it was installed in 1961.
As the lines cross the A9 towards Gloagburn, traffic management will be in place along the route while scaffolding and safety netting is installed to allow the work to be completed safely.
Lead project manager Andy Adams said: “This significant investment in the local electricity network will help to provide a secure supply to the area.
“We will be replacing overhead wires, insulators and fittings, as well as replacing some operational equipment in Burghmuir substation. To make sure that we undertake the works safely for our staff, contractors and members of the public, we will have traffic restrictions in place on part of the section of A9 between the Broxden and Inveralmond roundabouts.”
The traffic management restrictions will be in force between 10pm on July 12 and 6am on July 13; and then again from 10pm on September 15 until 6am on September 16.
