A Perth businessman has been left “devastated” following a suspected arson attack.
Firefighters were called out to Bertha Park Farm in the early hours of Monday morning following reports of a blaze.
They arrived at the premises of Logsnstuff, a timber contracting firm, at around 12.20am to find a forwarder tractor well alight.
Although they spent more than an hour tackling the flames, the vehicle was completely burnt out and now the company has been left counting the cost.
Steven Laing, who runs the business with his father Martin, told The Courier they will have to fight to keep the enterprise going.
“I’m not sure how we are going to carry on at the moment,” he said.
“The vehicle was pretty integral to the business and it will cost at least £80,000 to replace. It’s quite a big shock and I don’t know what we’re going to do.”
A spokesperson from Police Scotland’s Tayside Division confirmed that enquiries were ongoing to establish if the fire was started deliberately.
