A man who pushed his ex-partner down stairs, leaving her with a broken wrist, has been jailed.
Nelson Santos, 29, of Breadalbane Terrace, Perth, got into an argument with Linzi Bassett-Smith at a property in Appin Place, Aberfeldy, on June 29 last year. Perth Sheriff Court heard he also grabbed her, slapped her repeatedly in the face and threw her to the ground.
Ms Bassett-Smith made an attempt to run away and hide but was found by Santos, who then tried to force her into a car on the town’s Dunkeld Street.
Santos also admitted breaching bail on October 2 by approaching Ms Bassett-Smith and to committing a breach of the peace by following her, shouting and swearing.
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said that, while admitting the charges, the injury to the victim was non-intentional.
He said: “He regrets the injury.”
Imposing a sentence of 12 months, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “These matters are serious matters. There was a significant assault.”
