A wayward cat that disappeared just days after being reunited with his owner after a mysterious absence has been relocated for a second time.
John Cuthbert was delighted to be reunited with his “best pal” Jess last month, two-and-a-half years after the pet vanished from a flat in North Muirton, Perth.
However, the joy was short-lived and the sneaky feline managed to slip out of an open bathroom window at John’s new home in Bridge of Earn.
The pet was found more than two miles away on Moncreiffe Hill and after being caught in a cage he was reunited with John for a second time on Thursday.
“A woman managed to catch him at Easter Moncrieffe House,” he said. “Jess had been visiting there for about a week.
“Her next-door neighbour had seen the post on Facebook (about Jess disappearing) and saw the cat running about his garden.”
John added that he had inadvertently aided Jess’s latest adventure.
“He got out the bathroom window and I can’t blame anybody else because it was me who left it open.
“It’s amazing having him back. He’s now booked into the vet’s again to have ticks removed.”
Jess first disappeared during a storm in December 2011 after sneaking out of John’s flat hidden under a bag of rubbish.
Last month the three-year-old turned up matted and dishevelled just 150 yards away.
It is thought that Jess was able to survive on scraps left out by other cat owners in the area.
