Former colleagues of a woman tragically found dead in her home have paid tribute to a “wonderful” teacher.
Jane Sullivan was discovered in her Perth property by a friend on the evening of August 21.
She had worked at the Fair City’s Moncreiffe Primary School for a number of years.
A number of colleagues have praised her dedication to the job.
Alison Cummings, who worked alongside Ms Sullivan for several years, was full of praise of her former colleague.
She said: “She was a wonderful teacher and a very good colleague. She was dedicated to her job.
“Her pupils adored her. She did extra classes in dancing and they loved that.
“There will be a big turnout at her funeral on Wednesday and I know a lot of ex-pupils are planning on going. She will be missed.”
The school’s former deputy head teacher, William Oliphant, said Ms Sullivan began her teaching career in Perth.
“Jane initially came to Moncreiffe as a student teacher and, even at that early stage of her career, it was evident that she would one day make an outstanding practitioner,” he said.
“After graduation we were fortunate enough to be able to recruit Jane on to the permanent staff of the school.
“In her day-to-day work she proved to be a caring, diligent and dedicated teacher.
“In addition, her contribution to the ethos and extra-curricular work of the school was considerable.
“The pupils loved her. She was young, she was energetic, she was vibrant and she was very much on the same wavelength as her charges. She was, indeed, a very talented girl and we are devastated by her loss at such a young age.”
Another colleague, who did not want to be named, said: “I was privileged to work closely with Jane for several years.
“She was an amazing, inspirational teacher one of the best I have known.
“Jane had a very difficult time over recent years and her untimely death is an absolute tragedy. Her loss is felt by many.
“I know many ex-pupils’ fondest memories of their time at school are from when they had Jane as their teacher.”
Ms Sullivan died just days before she was due to attend a procedural hearing at the General Teaching Council of Scotland.
Her funeral will be held at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Perth on Wednesday.
