Accordion and fiddle festival here to stay in Perth

The first Perth All Scotland Accordion and Fiddle Festival not to be under the stewardship of Perth’s Mr Music, Bill Wilkie, took place at the weekend.
Fears were raised that the event might be under threat after Bill, its founder and organiser since 1950, said he planned to step down.
However, after he liaised with local musicians and enthusiasts, its future was secured, and a new committee took over the running of the event.
It is a major occasion in the national music calendar, incorporating the Scottish Accordion Championships for traditional music, fiddle competitions and a range of individual and group classes covering a variety of styles.
This year it was centred on the Salutation Hotel and nearby halls.
