A plan to demolish the former social work office in Mill Street, Kinross, to make way for a new car park has stalled.
Perth and Kinross Council’s enterprise and infrastructure committee decided to refer the matter to its property sub-committee to consider marketing the building.
It was in response to a suggested business use from a resident, although a new 19-space car park remains a popular option with many shop owners.
The committee agreed that on-street parking charges should be introduced in the centre of Crieff, and charges in off-street car parks scrapped.
The introduction of paid on-street parking would produce a quicker turnover of vehicles and free-up roadside parking spaces in the town centre, attracting more passing trade for local shops, the committee heard.
The cost will be 50p for half an hour and £1 per hour.
