St Johnstone are doing their bit to spruce up the Fair City by becoming the latest sponsor of Beautiful Perth.

The sponsorship deal will enable volunteers from the charity to refurbish three mini roundabouts in the city.

They will be painted in the club’s colours and planted with bedding plants to provide a bright show over the summer.

St Johnstone approached Beautiful Perth looking for opportunities to put something more back into the community to celebrate the support they get from the city’s residents.

The sponsorship will help brighten up the city in a year when Perth is buzzing, not only because of the Saints’ Cup Final appearance, but also because of the forthcoming Ryder Cup in September and the visit of the 2014 Commonwealth Games torch in July. In August, Beautiful Perth volunteers will host a visit by the judges from Britain in Bloom as the Fair City is representing Scotland in this year’s competition.

Beautiful Perth chairman John Summers said: “We really appreciate this generous offer from St Johnstone FC. It will help make Perth even more attractive for residents, visitors and businesses in the city.

“The Saints have had a great run in the Scottish Cup this year and all credit to them to think of supporting our efforts when they have so much going on right now.”

“The sponsored roundabouts will be a great addition to the floral displays in Perth.”

St Johnstone’s football development manager Roddy Grant added: “Everyone at the club is extremely grateful for the overwhelming support shown to us by the Perthshire public.

“This sponsorship deal allows us to repay a little of the faith and will provide both colour and a continued reminder of the club’s achievements this season over the summer months.”
