Perthshire man helps Nepal earthquake relief effort

An Aberfeldy man who was rafting in Nepal has become involved with delivering aid to remote parts of the country.
Former Breadalbane Academy pupil Kurt Leitch, 26, had been in the country for four months when disaster struck.
“He texted me on the Saturday morning to say everything was OK. I didn’t even know there had been an earthquake,” said his mother, Anne Riley. “Since then he has been keeping in touch by email and phone.”
Friends and family in Scotland have been sending Kurt money to purchase food, blankets and other supplies.
“They have been loading up buses laden with rice and lentils,” said his mother. “Kurt has been helping from 7am to 11pm. They are putting in all the hours they have to take aid into places that have not had anything.”
She said Kurt was expecting to leave Nepal around the middle of the month to head for Switzerland, where he lives, but did not know if he would be delayed now.
