The net is closing on a man who viciously attacked a woman in a quiet Perthshire village.
A senior police chief told The Courier they are following “positive lines” of inquiry into the incident that shocked Inchture.
Chief Inspector Mike Whitford, area commander for Perth and Kinross, said detectives are working hard to get a breakthrough in their quest to track the man who attacked the 27-year-old woman in her home on Orchard Way around 8.50am on Saturday March 14.
She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the attack but her injuries were not thought to be serious.
Police said the man, who was not known to the woman, ran off after the attack.
“The investigation is still ongoing, with a number of positive lines of inquiry”, Mr Whitford said. “Detectives are still very much following this up. There are a number of specialist teams working on this incident.”
Scores of officers attempted to find the man following the attack, with dog units and a police helicopter deployed.
Road blocks were set up on the main road in Inchture but the man evaded detection.
The attacker is described as being in his late twenties, of stocky build with dark hair. He was wearing a shiny blue top and black bottoms.
Anyone who has information that might assist the police inquiry should phone 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
