Man could face jail term over unprovoked street attack in Dunkeld
ByThe Courier Reporter
A young man who assaulted a stranger as he walked through Dunkeld has been warned to stay out of trouble.
Thomas McNair was knocked to the ground and repeatedly punched in an unprovoked attack in the town’s Atholl Street in August.
Iain Atwell, of Bruce Gardens, Dunkeld, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday, having previously admitted the assault, which left Mr McNair, who is in his 50s, injured.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis deferred sentence for three months and ordered Atwell to behave. He told the 22-year-old he faces being locked up or ordered to carry out unpaid community work.
The case will call again on Wednesday August 26.
