Chief Inspector Mike Whitford, former area commander for Perth and Kinross, has moved to a new role in Dundee.
He will now work in the Divisional Coordination unit for D Division.
Mr Whitford started his police career in 1994 in Perth and was a Blairgowrie ‘beat’ officer from 1998 to 2000, before moving to strategic planning from 2000-2002.
He then worked in Lochee, Dundee, as a sergeant prior to moving to CID as a detective sergeant.
Mr Whitford was then part of a strategic planning team for the formation of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency. He was then promoted to operational Detective Inspector in CID in 2004.
His career also saw spells as Community Inspector and working in Professional Standards (Internal Affairs). In 2008, he was promoted to Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) in the intelligence arena and also worked as a relief operational Critical Incident Manager (CIM).
He then moved to CID for Police Scotland before taking on his Perth and Kinross role in March 2013.
