A Perth schoolgirl is jumping for joy, after being crowned champion in two dance disciplines. Hannah Spence took the Junior Scottish Championship title in both ballet and modern at the Helensburgh festival. The talented 13-year-old studies four different dance styles, including jazz and tap, and started taking lessons when she was just three years old. The Perth Academy pupil said: “I feel overwhelmed. I was shocked because I didn’t expect to get the double. “I live to dance it feels really good to be dancing, to get away from everything else. It’s another world, really.” Hannah who is a senior associate with Scottish Ballet wants to become a professional dancer. “I’d like to do any type of dance but preferably ballet,” she said. “I’d like to be a prima ballerina with the New York City Ballet. New York looks such an amazing place.”
