Police hunting thugs who caused an accident by tying a rope across a country road hope the public could hold the key to solving the crime.
Officers are appealing for anyone missing a length of blue nylon rope to come forward.
As we reported, the rope was used to fashion a trap over the B954 Meigle to Newtyle road on Saturday night.
At around 11.45pm a car travelling along the road crashed through the tripwire, leaving the occupants shaken but unharmed.
The incident has caused outrage on both sides of the Perthshire/Angus borders, with the culprits told that their actions could have killed someone.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland appealed for anyone who could help catch the guilty party.
She said: “Officers investigating the crime are appealing for anyone in the local area who may be missing a length of 8mm blue nylon rope to contact the police, as they may have information that could assist police with their enquiries.
“Local residents who may have such an item are asked to check their property to establish if there has been any sign of suspicious activity.
“In addition, anyone in the Meigle or Newtyle area who noticed any suspicious activity or persons at the time of the incident is also urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
