Perthshire teacher in exam papers row battles incompetency charge

The father of a Perthshire teacher accused of incompetency has launched a scathing attack on her former bosses.
Gillian Scott, who was head of Breadalbane Academy’s English department, faces being struck off after becoming embroiled in an embarrassing row over “hidden” exam papers.
Ms Scott’s dad has alleged that his daughter was wrongly blamed for the fiasco, which led to the entire English department staff leaving.
At a hearing of the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s fitness-to-teach panel, retired teacher Mr Scott said that school management attempted a cover-up after a principal teacher took the bizarre step of hiding all prelim exam papers in his car, leading to a major delay in marking.
