A drunken driver who crashed into a house has vowed to pay for the damage after discovering it was the home of his former teacher.
Gregor McRobert promised to pay the £1,500 repair bill he caused when he lost control and left his BMW embedded in the ex-teacher’s wall.
McRobert, 44, of Allt Mor Place, Pitlochry, admitted driving with excess alcohol on the B846 Weem to Tummel Bridge road on Saturday April 18.
Depute fiscal Sue Ruta said: “This offence came to light following a call to the police from a member of the public, stating they had found an abandoned vehicle at 8.45pm. It was embedded in a wall.”
Solicitor Jamie Baxter, defending, described it as “a very unfortunate incident”.
Sheriff William Wood fined McRobert £2,000 and banned him from driving for 28 months.
