A Celtic supporter has been banned from going to the club’s next 17 matches after being accused of being a religious bigot.
Lewis Connor, 18, appeared in the dock at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday and denied being involved in football-related bigotry.
He had his trial scheduled for October 10 and was released on bail with a special condition not to attend any Celtic match anywhere in the world before that date. Connor, Atholl Crescent, Paisley, denies engaging in behaviour likely to incite public disorder at St Johnstone’s ground, McDiarmid Park, in Perth, on May 15.
He denies repeatedly shouting foul and abusive language of religious hatred.
Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart imposed a ban on Connor attending any match featuring Celtic as a participating team.
