The child was playing with a friend on Tuesday evening when the man approached her and tried to get her to come home with him. However, the girl was able to call for help and the pair escaped unharmed. The incident has been reported to the police, who have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area today. Speaking to The Courier, the child’s mother said she was incredibly proud of the way her daughter had handled the ordeal. She said: “He stopped her and said ‘come to my house’. My daughter said no, but he said it was nearby and pointed. “When my daughter shouted on her friend the boy just ran away.” She added: “I want to warn people and make kids aware of the Stranger Danger thing.” The man is being described as “a youngish male with brown/dark hair and was wearing all black with a motif on his t-shirt.” A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed they are looking into the incident.
