Punters enjoyed one of the hottest days of the year at the inaugural Perth Races in Bloom Garden Party.
Launched in partnership with Beautiful Perth, the event showcased gardening talent from across Perthshire, as well as seven jump races.
The racecourse hosted its first flower show on the lawn and there were demonstrations from Chelsea Garden Show gold medallist Jillian Page, of Something Special Flowers, and seed planting for children.
With the sun beating down, race-goers could also sample the venue’s first official ice cream supplier, Mackies, which was offering tasters of their award-winning Sky to Scoop ice-cream flavours.
Yesterday’s event kick-started the racecourse’s busiest month of the year, with five race meetings lined up for July. The Silver Cup Family Day on Sunday July 12 is partnered with Crieff Hydro’s Action Glen Activity Centre to offer family events.
Activities including inflatables, a bouncy castle, face painting, Segways, pony rides, quad pods and archery will be made available free of charge to all.
July’s only evening event is, once again, the Rock At The Races meeting on July 28, with the Perth band Red Pine Timber Company taking to the stage.
Perth Racecourse general manager Sam Morshead said: “Early indications show superb interest from some of racing’s finest talent and with the party all planned, we’re ready for some more fantastic days out at Perth.”
