Rammy at granny’s sees Perthshire man fall foul of the law
ByThe Courier Reporter
A rammy at his grandparents’ home saw an under-curfew criminal fined £80 after he left the house and was found in a caravan in their garden.
Edward Townsley was previously ordered to remain within his grandparents’ home in Luncarty between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
However after a family argument on June 10 the 23-year-old decamped to the caravan, only to be collared by police for being outwith the curfew address albeit by a matter of feet.
At Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Michael Fletcher said he did not feel jailing Townsley for the breach would be appropriate.
He said: “I don’t think I can give a custodial sentence if he’s in the caravan and not the house.
“A lay person would be entitled to think that if they stay within the curtilage of the property they comply with bail.
