Thousands heading for Fair City as Perth Show beats the weather
ByRichard Burdge
Perth’s largest social gathering of the year has beaten the weather.
Fears that Perth Show might fall victim to the rain which battered the Rewind Festival and cancelled two days of racing at Scone proved unfounded, much to the relief of the organisers.
Crowds of 15,000 to 20,000 are expected to descend on the South Inch on Friday and Saturday for the traditional show which brings the country to the city.
“It was very alarming,” admitted Neil Forbes, secretary of the Perthshire Agricultural Society, of the weather earlier this week.
“I was frightened to come in (to the site) but it is drying out really nicely.”
