Heartbroken Tayside wrestlers have paid tribute to their friend Rowdy Roddy Piper following his death at the age of 61.
Blairgowrie-based Scottish Wrestling Entertainment (SWE) said it was deeply saddened by the passing of Piper who performed at the company’s Hell for Lycra event in Perth in 2012.
The SWE said Piper’s appearance in Perth and promotional tour in Tayside three years ago had wowed his fans.
A book of condolence was opened by SWE for fans to sign when the wrestlers took part in a meet and greet session at the Overgate in Dundee on Saturday.
SWE promoter David Low said Piper’s untimely passing would also be marked at Hell for Lycra at the Caird Hall in Dundee on August 29.
He said: “He was an icon and a true legend. He was the kind of person that I thought would live forever.”
Though being Canadian, due to his Scottish heritage he was billed as being from Glasgow, and was known for his signature kilt and bagpipe entry music.
