A leisure centre that had to apologise for locking children in is now being sued for £25,000 by a former lifeguard.
Terry Barton Bond, 46, is suing Blairgowrie Recreation Centre over claims she was injured trying to rescue a child during a pool party.
The former Zumba instructor and duty manager claims the rescue pole she had to use to try to reach a struggling child in the water was too short.
She said she had to stretch with her arms straight out and as a result she ended up with a shoulder injury that kept her off work for around six months.
Barton Bond, who now lives in Blackpool, has lodged an action at Perth Sheriff Court for £25,000 damages against the centre’s operators, Live Active Leisure.
Barton Bond said she returned to light duties in November 2012, but required surgery in July the following year and was off work for another four weeks.
She left her post in November 2013.
She then moved to Blackpool and was out of work until taking up a post as a gym assistant in August last year.
She alleges that she cannot work as a duty manager because her qualifications are no longer up-to-date.
“She continues to suffer ongoing loss as a result of the accident,” her action states.
Part of her claim relates to services including shopping and cleaning that had to be provided by her husband Antony Bond.
A hearing on the civil case has been scheduled for later this month.
Live Active Leisure was forced to apologise after young girls were trapped in the centre for an hour after staff locked them in and went off for a barbecue with colleagues.
The girls, aged between eight and 11, were still in the changing room after going for a swim when staff locked up for the night, set the burglar alarm and left.
