A police watchdog has dropped an investigation into the conduct of officers in Perth.
The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC) was alerted after a man was injured during an incident in the early hours of Sunday.
The 20-year-old suffered serious injuries after running into a window on Atholl Street during a police chase.
Witnesses reported seeing a large amount of blood on the pavement in the hours following the incident.
The unnamed man had been detained by police on suspicion of assault but managed to escape.
He is understood to have slipped and hit his head on the lintel of a nearby window.
The man was taken to hospital and the case was referred to PIRC.
However, the ombudsman said there was no requirement for a full-scale investigation.
A spokesman said: “Police Scotland referred the circumstances surrounding the serious injury of a 20-year-old man in Perth on August 9 2015 to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner to assess whether there was a requirement to investigate the matter.
“Following a thorough review of the evidence, the Commissioner does not feel it necessary to pursue an investigation.”
PIRC is continuing to examine a separate incident which happened on the same day in Montrose.
John Higgins was found dead on his tenement stairs in Christie’s Close.
Reports say the 42-year-old had spent the evening before at a local nightclub but had been taken home by police following an incident.
