Crieff Primary pupils have enjoyed their first day at their new £14 million school.
Around 360 youngsters have been moved out of their outdated, cramped classrooms into a state-of-the-art building on Broich Road.
The new school and nursery is part of a wider £80 million investment in Perth and Kinross Council’s school estate.
Work began on the site, next to the Strathearn Community Campus, last summer. Staff stayed behind on the last day of term to unload more than 450 packing crates and worked through until after midnight.
The Scottish Government also made an exceptional ruling to allow pupils an extra day off, so that teachers could apply the finishing touches on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s opening.
Head teacher Annette Beaton said: “It has been wonderful to open the doors of our new school and nursery to our pupils and we’re looking forward to continuing pupils’ learning journeys here.
“We now have a dynamic and state-of-the-art building, fit for the purpose of a 21st Century learning environment.
“To see pupils and staff enjoying our new school, and already putting our facilities to good use, is really very special.”
The new building includes a nursery, gymnasium, sports pitches, a multi-use games area and secure playground.
The wider community will get a chance to see inside the school at an open day on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
