Two elderly Perth women have been the victims of callous criminals with one of them being robbed of a three-figure sum of money.
In one incident, a 90-year-old Perth widow had her handbag stolen by a man in her own flat.
At around 4pm on Wednesday, the thief spoke to the woman in a close in High Street, Perth, and falsely told her he had recently moved into the area. He then followed the woman into her home but while she was in another room, he made off with her handbag.
The blue bag contained a wallet, black leather purse, purple reading glasses and gift cards.
Police say the suspect is aged in his early twenties, 5ft 6ins tall, has a round face and short, light-brown hair.
He was wearing a black casual jacket or tracksuit top and black trousers at the time.
A police spokesperson said they are reviewing CCTV footage following the incident.
Police are also trying to trace a man who obtained a three-figure sum of money from an 86-year-old woman after stating he would carry out gardening work at a property in Nimmo Avenue, Perth, at 12.30pm on Tuesday.
The suspect is described as having short, dark hair and a blue shirt with a motif on it.
Chief Inspector Ian Scott, area commander for Perth and Kinross, said: “This lady is 86 years old and has poor vision.
“The man told her he would be doing work normally done by her usual gardener and that he would need money beforehand.
“He made off with a three-figure sum.”
Anyone with information on these two incidents can call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
