Rowan spreads her canine joys at Perthshire care home
ByThe Courier Reporter
An unwanted dog has been spreading some friendly canine joy to residents of a care home.
Weimaraner-cross Rowan is a rescue dog who was one of a litter of unwanted puppies from East Kilbride. Now seven, she was rehomed at a young age by Kay Jarvie from Auchterarder.
Kay and Rowan are both members of Crieff Dog Training Club and when Kay heard about the Therapet scheme from other club members, she offered their services to the organisation behind the scheme, Canine Concern Scotland Trust.
Harry Greig, the Perthshire area representative for Canine Concern, accompanied Kay and Rowan on their first visit to Glencairn House care home in Auchterarder.
Margaret Ann Gavin, care manager at Glencairn, was delighted to see the benefits of pet contact to the residents.
