A soldier has been accused of having sex with a schoolboy in hospital grounds after grooming him on a gay and bisexual dating website.
Alexander Gemmell, 28, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court on a petition alleging he engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old boy.
Gemmell, Beechgrove Place, Perth, is alleged to have sent written sexual communication to the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between August 24 last year and January 24.
He is alleged to have corresponded through “a gay and bisexual adult dating website for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification” and with a view to meeting the boy in person to engage in sexual intercourse.
Gemmell is alleged to have met the boy on grassland at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth to engage in consensual sexual activity with him during the same time period.
He also faces a third charge of engaging in sexual activity with the boy and he made no plea or declaration during a 15-minute hearing at the court yesterday.
Gemmell had the case continued against him for further examination and he was granted bail by Sheriff Lindsay Foulis.
