Memories and old photos are being sought for the MacRosty Park Heritage Art Project.
Spearheaded by local artist June McEwan, the project is part of Perth and Kinross Council’s wider regeneration programme for the Crieff park.
Between now and April, June will be archiving people’s memories of the popular green space and is also looking for old photographs of the park and events that have taken place there.
She explained: “The purpose of the project is to research MacRosty Park, source images, text and facts which will feed into a tree trail and time trail app and leaflet that can be tapped into by users of the park.
“It is envisaged that memories captured from local residents and other visitors to the park will be used for the time trail.
“The 112-year-old park holds many stories and it is hoped that this will be an opportunity to bring some of these stories to life.”
June will also be running workshops for young people and has asked author Helen Grant to write a story involving the park to ignite ideas, focusing on Celtic lore, fairy folk and tree spirits, for interested teens to create an animation film for YouTube.
For the youngest park users, there will be a sand and coloured water art day once the weather improves.
June has also launched a Facebook page for MacRosty Park.
She added: “People are particularly telling me about happy summer days spent there listening to bands who played every weekend.
“Many people are also talking a lot about the old tea room.
“We should be proud of our park and the many happy memories it has generated for both visitors and locals because it is one of the most beautiful in the country.”
Photographs from the late 1950s up to the 1980s of people playing on the swings and trampolines, and of teams playing sport at Mungall Park, are of particular interest to June.
