ByJamie Buchan
Hundreds of bargain-hunters swarmed to a closing down sale at crisis-hit McEwens of Perth this afternoon.
There were angry scenes as queues of shoppers jostled to get into the city centre department store.
About 400 people were outside the store for its midday opening. Staff had to limit the amount of people through the door to just 20 at a time.
One angry shopper could be heard berating people from a nearby Easter parade for pushing in line.
The troubled department store went into administration on Thursday.
A total of 64 employees were made redundant with the remaining 46 including 13 from smaller stores in Ballater and Oban kept on to see out the administration process. For more on this story, see Saturday’s Courier.
