An administration worker who was caught with a stash of images of child and animal abuse is to be made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order over increasing fears about his behaviour.
Wayne Hopkins was sacked from his job with Scottish and Southern Energy after being arrested in connection with an obscene horde of 1,000 child and animal images.
Hopkins walked free from court in November 2014 after a “conduct requirement” was imposed upon him, restricting access to the internet.
He is only allowed to own one computer and one smartphone and has to reveal his password and email address to the police.
He was also banned from encrypting any material.
But Perth Sheriff Court was told Hopkins had caused concerns for social workers in recent weeks because of his continuing interest in illicit material.
Sheriff Fiona Tait told Hopkins she now intended to impose a highly restrictive SOPO upon him in a bid to curtail his interest in images of children.
The case was continued for the sheriff to consider how long the order should remain in place for.
Hopkins was previously placed on the Sex Offenders Register for three years and ordered to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the community for his offending.
At that time, he admitted having indecent images of children at his Perth home between June and November 2012.
He also admitted having extreme images depicting in “an explicit and realistic way” sexual activity between people and animals between November 2012 and February 2013.
