Watch out Perth, because Santa Claus is coming to town and it looks like he’s bringing about 500 of his mirror image mates.
The city is expected to disappear under a sea of red and white on Saturday, December 12, with hundreds expected to take part in the ever popular Santa Run.
The 5km race is part of Perth’s ongoing Winter Festival and will kick off at the concert hall and finish at North Inch.
With just three weeks to go, organisers have already received a bumper crop of entries.
So far, 350 people have put their name down for the run with many more expected to flood in over the coming days.
Those taking part will run through Mill Street, Kinnoull Street, High Street and Tay Street before crossing the Queen’s Bridge and continuing along Dundee Road, Gowrie Street and over the Perth Bridge.
Race organiser Nick Kydd said: “The Santa Run is great fun and all the family can take part.
“It’s all very relaxed as runners can enter the race to raise money for a charity or just to have a bit of Christmassy fun.”
He said: “It really helps everyone, both locals from Perth and those visiting, to get in the Christmas spirit and it is quite a sight seeing over 500 people dressed as Santa running down the high street and across the bridges.
“It is a hugely popular event, so I would encourage everyone to get their skates on and sign up to ensure they secure a place.”
Admission is £12 for adults and £7 for children. These prices include Santa suits which will be handed out on the day and can be kept.
After the event, all those taking part will be presented with a medal and a goody bag. Organisers said they will be encouraged to stay, shop and dine in the area, providing a healthy boost to the local economy.
