T in the Park bosses have tabled the latest bid for the festival’s move to Strathallan Castle.
Show organisers, fresh from scoring crucial support from council planners, have now lodged an application for a public entertainments licence.
A 21-day public consultation exercise is now under way and a decision is likely to be made at a licensing board hearing next month just days before the festival is due to begin.
A separate planning application will be discussed by members of Perth and Kinross Council’s development management committee next week. Councillors are expected to visit the 1,600-acre estate ahead of the May 12 talks.
On Friday it was announced that council planners were backing the relocation plan, despite thousands of objections.
Most opponents said the three-day festival would have a detrimental effect on wildlife, particularly three protected ospreys which have been spotted nesting at the site.
Supporters argued that the show will bring millions of pounds to the local economy and pointed out DF Concert’s long-standing track record for hosting major outdoor gigs.
Planning officer Nick Brian has recommended councillors approve the plan, subject to a catalogue of conditions.
He has insisted that a new wildlife management plan is submitted and steps are taken to monitor the osprey nests.
Mr Brian has also called for fireworks to be banned at the show, which will feature headline sets from The Libertines and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
The planning department also said there was “sufficient road capacity” to deal with the 69,000 vehicle movements over the festival weekend.
If approved by councillors on Tuesday, DF Concerts could be given a pass to stage the show at Strathallan for three years.
The festival was forced to move out of its traditional Balado home amid health and safety concerns about an underground pipeline.
Council planners received 1,626 letters and emails objecting to the Strathallan move, as well as 793 messages of support. Fans also submitted a 1,922-signature petition calling for the event to go ahead.
