An argument that broke out between the owners of two Rottweiler dogs led to a Perthshire man shouting racist remarks.
Depute Fiscal Robbie Brown told Perth Sheriff Court how Jonathon Fraser, 57, of Newton of Pitcairns, Dunning, had been out walking his dog around 8am when he encountered another man, also walking his dog in the same street.
“The complainer tried to separate the two large dogs when they saw each other, but the accused began shouting and swearing at the other man,” he said.
The court heard how Fraser then told the man to “take a pic” and told him to go “back to Poland.”
Mr Brown said the accused was still shouting as the man left the scene and added that when the complainer arrived home, his wife noticed he was extremely upset by the incident.
Solicitor John McLaughlin, defending, said his client had been in custody over the weekend after being arrested for the offence, and added this was a “significant shock” to him.
“My client didn’t expect any trouble when the two dogs came together he told me they usually just bristle each other but don’t get involved in violence,” he said.
“He saw the complainer put his foot up towards my client’s dog in what looked like an attempt to push his dog away and my client didn’t like this.”
Fraser admitted shouting racist remarks at the man on August 21, last year, at Newton of Pitcairns, Dunning.
Sentencing Fraser, Sheriff Simon Collins, told him his behaviour had been “unacceptable” and fined him £500.
