Police have retraced the steps of a missing Perthshire pensioner, a week after he was reported missing.
William Rattray was last seen in the Letham area of Perth last Tuesday.
The 77-year-old’s car was found abandoned in his home town of Bridge of Earn in the early hours of the following morning.
Worried relatives said his disappearance was completely out of character.
Last night police quizzed people on the city’s Tweedsmuir Road, where Mr Rattray disappeared.
Later they were out in force in Bridge of Earn. Passing motorists were flagged down and quizzed about their movements a week earlier.
Mr Rattray’s silver Vauxhall Astra was discovered in the Earnbank area after his disappearance.
Police Scotland has carried out an exhaustive hunt around the Perthshire town and the nearby River Earn.
A police helicopter carried out a sweep of the surrounding countryside on Wednesday, while members of the Tayside Mountain Rescue team joined firefighters for an extensive water search the next day.
Investigators have also carried out door-to-door inquiries and searched back gardens and outbuildings around Mr Rattray’s home.
CCTV from businesses is also being reviewed.
Inspector Nicky Russell, who is leading the inquiry, said last night: “Officers have carried out extensive searches and are appealing again for anyone who may have any information that could help find William to get in touch.”
When last seen, he was wearing black dress trousers, a black waist-length waterproof jacket and black gloves.
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101.
