A financial claims adviser who was caught with a horde of child abuse images featuring infants has been warned to prepare for custody.
Scott Wallace, who worked for Aviva after dropping out of Perth College, was caught with hundreds of images and videos on his laptop.
The 20-year-old had been searching out the sickening material on computers in the home he shared with his mother and other family.
Depute fiscal Gavin Letford told Perth Sheriff Court: “He was employed as a claims adviser for Aviva and had a second job as a stock room assistant with a retailer.
“He previously studied engineering at Perth College, but did not complete his studies. Police Scotland received intelligence. A search warrant was granted.”
Mr Letford said an investigation led to the internet user being Wallace’s mother Amanda, but he finally accepted he had been the person using the account to seek depraved material.
He said a forensic analysis of the computers found more than 300 images of children either naked or being sexually abused and they were aged between infants and 14.
There were also a number of video files recovered and, after initially denying involvement, Wallace admitted he was the only person in the house involved.
Sheriff William Wood said: “It’s plainly a very serious matter and a report has to be obtained before the court can decide best how to deal with this case.
“All disposals are available and there may be a strong likelihood of a custodial sentence to follow. You should be warned that perhaps making preparations before the next calling might be a good plan.”
Wallace, 20, Bruce Crescent, Perth, admitted making or possessing indecent images of children at his home between March 27 and December 7 2012. Sentence was deferred for reports and bail was continued.
