The family of a Perth man who died aged 26 following a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis have paid tribute to their brave son.
Kyle Bairstow died on Monday after complications stemming from the disease.
Mum Elaine said: “He will be so sadly missed. The worst part is when you get up in the morning and the realisation hits you that he is not there.
“He was born with cystic fibrosis but he wasn’t diagnosed until he was three. He was a very positive and brave laddie who never got down even with all the years that he had cystic fibrosis.”
St Johnstone and Manchester United fan Kyle loved football and music. He was a regular visitor to the Download Festival at Donington Park and could often be heard playing his drums at home.
Dad Andrew said: “He was always chirpy and cracking a joke. He was witty with some very sharp one-liners.”
The family’s two dogs, field spaniel Alfie and working cocker spaniel Meg, provided therapeutic help for the former Perth Grammar School pupil.
Andrew said: “He loved to spend time with his dogs. They were good company for him. When he had to go upstairs and lie down they were there to cuddle into him and he lapped that up.
“We want Kyle’s story to show people with cystic fibrosis in their family that there is hope and that people can live long and happy lives with the condition.”
Kyle will be cremated at Perth Crematorium on Tuesday November 24 at 10.30am. The family has asked attendees to wear bright colours or football tops and will collect donations for the Butterfly Trust, Cornhill Macmillan Support and cystic fibrosis.
