The woman credited with reviving the fortunes of Perth Theatre is leaving to take up a new post.
Horsecross Arts creative director for theatre Rachel O’Riordan is to become artistic director at Sherman Cymru, Cardiff.
In her three years at Perth Theatre Ms O’Riordan has spearheaded its drive to become one of the leading producing theatres in Scotland, scooping a number of awards.
She will remain in post until February, meaning she will direct Perth Theatre’s traditional family pantomime Cinderella the final production in the theatre before it closes for a two-year, multi-million- pound transformation.
“My three years at Perth Theatre have been among the happiest of my life and I have created some of my best work here in Scotland,” Ms O’Riordan said.
Horsecross Arts chairman Iain M. Halliday MBE praised her contribution, saying: “She leaves the theatre in a better place, on the cusp of an exciting transformation which will ensure a vibrant creative future for the performing arts in Perth.”
