Courier country churches are set to be boosted by a £2.2 million fund shared between 42 places of worship across Scotland.
Eight churches will receive more than half a million pounds, with amounts varying between £17,100 and £100,000.
Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander named the first round of historic churches in Scotland to receive more than £2.2 million of grants to address urgent roof repairs.
Grants of £10,000 to £100,000 will meet the costs of urgent repairs to roofs and rainwater disposal systems.
Money is also being provided for structural investigations, specialist reports and bat surveys.
This money is part of a wider funding package of £30m to 502 historic places of worship across the UK being announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne.
Three buildings in Dundee have been awarded cash, with St Paul’s Cathedral and St Mark’s on Perth Road being given full £100,000 grants, and Steeple Church awarded £17,100.
Two Kirkcaldy churches St Bryce and Kirkcaldy Old Kirk have been awarded £58,500 and £68,600 respectively.
Auchterarder Parish Church has been awarded £33,200, St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields, Perth, has been given a full grant of £100,000 and Tibbermore Church in Perthshire has been awarded £48,600.
