Police Scotland confirmed that 64-year-old Alexander Strang from Tealing, near Dundee died following the accident near Rait on Wednesday. A force spokesperson said: “His family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed.” Mr Strang was pronounced dead at the scene, near the Inchmichael junction on the A90. The vehicle, along with a trailer, came to rest in a ditch at the side of the road near a bend. Crash investigation teams attended to carry out inquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident. Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.20pm on Wednesday. Fire crews attended at the request of police after an initial report that Mr Strang was trapped within the vehicle. The Scottish Ambulance service was also in attendance but left shortly afterwards. The road was closed for several hours as a result of the incident to allow investigations to take place and the recovery of the tractor and trailer. Traffic was diverted via the Kinnaird road.
