A 21-year-old first-time offender caught selling ecstasy in a Perth nightclub has been jailed for nine months.
Steven Millar admitted selling the drug at the Loft nightclub over a six-week period between January and March this year.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Millar, of Birch Place, Bridge of Earn, was found to have 32.2g of the drug, valued at around £1,600.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said an employee of the Loft was approached by Millar while he was on a night out at the club.
The witness saw Millar remove small clear bags from the waistband of his trousers.
When he told Millar he worked at the club, the reveller ran away.
Door stewards caught Millar and took him to a quiet section of the club but when they released him he again tried to flee towards the exit.
Small packets of the drug and money were seen to fall from the accused, who then tried to kick the drugs under a nearby seat.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told Millar that in the last month he had to deal with three criminals involved in the supply of ecstasy and in one of the cases a recipient of the drug had become unwell.
He said: “A person who starts dabbling in drugs soon builds up a drug debt. This was a significant quantity of a Class A drug at a nightclub that would be attended by a considerable number of persons about your age. It was not just one date in March but over a six-week period.”
Millar admitted being concerned in the supply of ecstasy between January 30 and March 15.
