Elderly man in hospital after accident on the A9 at Blackford
ByThe Courier Reporter
An elderly man was taken to hospital yesterday following a road accident on the A9 Perth to Stirling road that left part of the northbound carriageway closed for nearly two hours.
The incident at around 5.10pm involved a collision between a grey Ford Focus and a green Fiat Punto near Blackford in Perthshire.
Emergency personnel attended and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the elderly male who was then taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where he was treated for spinal and chest injuries.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the man had been taken to hospital but could provide no more information on his condition.
She added that the northbound carriageway reopened at 7pm.
