Public having their say on future of Murray Royal Hospital site
ByPaul Reoch
A public consultation has been held to look at the possible use of surplus land and buildings at a Perth hospital.
Organised by NHS Tayside, an exhibition and workshops were held in the Hub building of Murray Royal Hospital to give people the opportunity to look at options for the site, including care facilities, and social enterprise and community uses.
The hospital underwent a £75 million upgrade which was opened last June by First Minister Alex Salmond and, as a result, NHS Tayside is now looking at a masterplan for the vacated sites.
Some members of Bridgend, Gannochy and Kinnoull Community Council have expressed concerns about the possibility of a large housing development on the site and asked for clarification over the implications of any such development for the local road network.
NHS Tayside has said it is in talks with Perth and Kinross Council over the matter and over the possibility that development could be phased to consider capacity issues.
