One of the biggest names in British cycling will be heading to Perthshire later this year.
Olympic gold medallist and world-record holder Chris Boardman has been unveiled as one of 5500 athletes taking part in the Etape Caledonia.
The 81-mile route will be a walk in the park for the 45-year-old, who has taken on some of the world’s most gruelling challenges.
During his 24-year career, Boardman rode in the prestigious Tour De France eight times, winning the yellow jersey on his debut by riding the quickest prologue ever and he still holds the record for top two fastest times.
He is still involved in the annual event, which is the highlight of any cycling fan’s calendar and is one of the presenters of ITV’s coverage.
Joining Boardman on the starting line in Pitlochry will be his colleague Ned Boulting.
He has been the face of the Tour De France for over a decade and has written two books on his experiences.
The Marie Curie Cancer Care Etape Caledonia takes place on May 11.
